The Glenfinnan Viaduct is a 21-arch single track viaduct and was one of the largest engineering undertakings using concrete without reinforcing when it was built by Sir Robert McAlpine between 1897 and 1901. The viaduct overlooks the Glenfinnan Monument and offers spectacular views down Lochaber’s Loch Shiel. In the summer months the heritage Jacobite steam train which provided the steam engine and carriages for the 'Hogwarts Express' as seen in the 'Harry Potter' films operates along the line
